Building skills and participation with new player development guidelines
The Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association is leading a special task force with the Manitoba Soccer Association to introduce new Long-term Player Development Guidelines. The new program starts with doing a better job of coaching our coaches, but it's end goal is better skill development and enjoyment of the game for children from age 4 up. Our ultimate goal is to improve skills and increase lifelong participation in soccer.
We've created a special newsletter with more information on this important initiative. A printed copy of the newsletter was distributed to every youth soccer team (recreational, developmental and premier-developmental) in the city this week. You can also download a PDF copy here.
The task force is meeting regularly now and expects to bring forth recommendations to the city's soccer community later this year.
